New York
Here are a few of the highlights of my trip to New York. There are many more memories and pictures I could share. It was a wonderful trip. Here are just a few of my favorite moments...
I flew from Salt Lake City to Dallas and met up with Karen and we flew together to New York. Karen is my Sister in law but really one of my best friend. We have always had so much fun together. It was so nice to have her all to myself. It was a great girls trip!!!
When can we go again?????????
Our hotel room. It was small but actually quiet nice. We didn't spend much time here. We were to busy walking the streets of New York. Mile and Miles. It's a good thing we walked so much because we ate a lot of yummy food.
First time catching a cab. I don't think I was very good at it. We couldn't get a cab and walked for miles thinking we would get one. Before we knew it we were at our hotel. We did a lot of walking and I didn't bring the greatest shoes. Karen was patient with me and my slow walking.

My MOM
My mom had 10 children even after her doctor advised her that she probably shouldn't have any. My mom's heart was damaged from rheumatic fever. Doctors didn't know if her heart could take having children.
The risk didn't stop my mom from being a mother. She loved being pregnant and having children.
I am 9 of 10. There are 7 boys and 3 girls. I can't even imagine giving birth to 10 children or changing that many diapers. (Cloth diapers).
My Father was a school teacher and didn't make a lot of money. Things were tight for them I am sure. They grew a garden and lived a frugal life.
My mom would make these beautiful quilts to sell. They were shiny satin material and she would quilt a beautiful design on them. A lady in a bonnet. A temple.
I remember playing under many quilts when I was young. They were my little hut. I remember seeing my moms legs as I was hiding out in my hut. I could see one of her arms as she was quilting and using her hand as a guide.
I remember watching my mom shuck peas. She had a huge bowl in front of her and I would grab hand fulls of peas. I never remember her getting upset that I would eat what seemed like as many peas and as fast as she was shucking them.
I am so glad that I have those memories of my mom. I don't have too many memories of my mom. She died when I was 9 years old. It has been hard not having a mother.
I am grateful for the 9 years I had with her and for her love, example and the times where I have felt her in my life. Guiding and helping me.
I love you mom and can't wait until some day when we will meet again.

Baked Potatoe's - Family Tradition????
Fluff with a fork... Put lots of butter on it add salt & pepper then cheese. Make sure it is melted.
My family (minus my sweet vegan Kinsey) favorite Sunday Dinner. Steak, Baked Potatoe, bread sticks and corn on the cob. We had this meal yesterday. Early for corn but it was actually good. I got the corn from Harmon's. The sign said fresh corn from California. We have summer/spring fever and wanted to grill out. It was yummy!!
Can a baked potatoe be a family tradition? Well it is in the Warner household. Huh you ask. Well Neil likes butter and cheese on his baked potatoes and many many years ago he asked me to fix his potatoe. I do it for him one time. Being the nice...wife that I am and after that it was could you fix it please? You do it so good. You do it so good is code for I want you to do it.
Well after 23 years of marriage it has long been a tradition. I do it so good and I fix the baked potatoe just like Neil likes. Fluff with a fork...butter, salt & Pepper and cheese. Making sure the cheese gets melted.
Ok I know you are all thinking... Old Fashioned. He can fix his own potatoe. What???? or some other version. I say I love it. I knew I had created a family tradition when my son who is living in Mexico and had been away from home only a few months said one of the things he missed was Sunday Dinners and me fixing his baked potatoe. To me that is SUCCESS!!!
Hopefully my family won't put "she fixed the best baked potatoes" on my head stone. But hey I guess there are worse things to be known for.
Bottom line is I love making Sunday Dinners and I love making my family happy. One more tradition I should tell you about so you don't think I am totally old fashioned. My husband and kids do sunday dishes. Lucky me!

Cinco de Mayo
Taco Stands in Mexico. Aaron's favorite! The meat does look good. Eat at your own risk!!!
The pyramids. This was such a testimony building trip for Aaron. He loved it. He said it helped him understand the Book of Mormon and it testified to him the truth of the gospel.
Not sure where this is but...it looks really cool!!
Since my son Aaron has been living in Mexico for a year and a half now. I thought I should say Happy Cinco de Mayo. We asked Aaron about what they do in Mexico on Cinco de Mayo and he said not really anything. It is a holiday based on Mexico winning a war. I think we here in the U.S.A celebrate it more as a time to eat mexican food and have fun.
